What trumpet Mouthpiece Size best suits for me?
I’ve been playing trumpet for 2 years and I have been playing a standard size 7C. I want to work on my tone quality and upper register a little bit more. Sometimes whenever I play my trumpet, I can not produce sound and all I can hear is air going through. Does anyone have any suggestion or advice for me?
You have to go to a music store and try multiple ones out…. That’s the only way that you’ll be able to tell what suits you best.
I’m a lead trumpet player. You also have to realize, a new mouthpiece or new trumpet won’t necessarily improve your playing by leaps and bounds. I can play a double C on my 1 1/2 C as well as my Marcinkewitz Chuck Findley. Of course I can play it easier and louder and the latter, but that just goes to show you that it’s the player, not the mouthpiece.
